Joe Strummer mural outside Niagara bar, NYC.
Random factoid - I had this queued up to post tomorrow, but pushed it out today on the 9th anniversary of his death.
“Raise a toast to St. Joe Strummer -
I think he might’ve been our only decent teacher.”

Here’s an old post from last year’s trip to London.
Or another from here in DC.
“I saw a werewolf drinking a piña colada at Trader Vic’s…
his hair was perfect.”
—Warren Zevon, Werewolves of London
This was our lone stop on what might’ve been a Werewolves of London tour once upon a time. Sadly, or maybe not based on the online reviews, Lee Ho Fook’s closed 2 years before our trip - no big dish of beef chow mein was to be had in the Soho rain.
This is the London Trader Vic’s location; they don’t have a piña colada per se - their version of it is called the Bahia but it seems essentially the same cocktail. Your server is not likely to know the above song, though.
On the anniversary of his death on this date in 1977…
Elvis Presley’s Grave, Graceland, Memphis TN.
Note the leaf covering the TCB lightning bolt logo. TCB was Elvis’ private creed: “take care of business,” and no he didn’t get that from the BTO song. He designed the logo himself and even created a TCB oath. The logo is painted on one of his planes, which you can see at Graceland.
Taken September 2005.
Big Pink, Saugerties, NY. October 2005. If you don’t know what this is, get thee to a store that offers recordings of a musical nature, and purchase yourself a copy of Music From Big Pink by an act known as The Band. You won’t regret it. I promise.
The owners of the house have their own website, here.

ZZ Top’s coupe circa 1983’s Eliminator album. Certainly you recall this vehicle from all their videos from that album.
Another odd shot of I.M. Pei’s building for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. January 2010.

“From Asbury Park to the Promised Land” is a terrific Bruce Springsteen exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately you cannot take photos inside it. If you’re a fan, it’s well worth seeing and it will be there much of this year, 2010.

Kate’s Lazy Meadow, outside Woodstock, New York. October 2005.
An excellent & fun place to stay, owned by Kate Pierson of the B-52’s. The rooms are all decorated in interesting styles. There are even Airstream trailers out back for rent.

Sun Studio, Memphis TN, September 2005.
I’m inclined to consider this ground zero for rock and roll.
