I don’t make much of a habit of posting other stuff, but this is such an iconic photo felt it was worth passing along.
Neat! Ninalee Craig, the woman in Ruth Orkin’s iconic 1951 “American Girl in Italy,” talks about her time being photographed by Ruth Orkin.
She’s now 83 years old. The orange shawl is the same one she wore in the 1951 photo.

Neko at the window, December 2009.
For some reason she was supporting herself on the windowsill this day; it slayed me.
Gunnar, August 2008.
He is my parents’ golden retriever. His skull is practically a football helmet - he’s a big boy.
LB, Lake Rosemound, Louisiana, 2006.
LB was a cat who belonged to Neckgear’s Mom, alas he is no longer with us. His initials stand for “Loverboy,” a nickname acquired by his habit of jumping up on the couch behind you and kneading your shoulders as if giving you a massage.
LB and Ripley were the first I shot in B&W, and I was so pleased with the results that their images have been denoted as “feline noir.” Their abode is rich in textures and their personalities come through even more in the stark contrast of black and white.
